Good evening ladies.
Some of you may already know me but if not, my name is Leah and I am joint owner of ‘Style Of My Own’ based in Macclesfield. Just thought I’d let you know why we have decided to make our ‘Love’ t-shirts and donate to The British Heart Foundation.
In 2009 I gave birth to my beautiful son Louis. Within 3 months I started to see a change in him. He struggled to feed, his lips would turn blue and he was occasionally lifeless after feeding. Louis became very ill with bronchitis and needed to be hospitalised due to extremely low oxygen levels. After many tests, I was told that he had a life threatening heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. We were immediately transferred to AlderHey.
After a rollercoaster 6 months of being in and out of hospital, we received the call from a London hospital to say that they had a donor valve for Louis.
At 9 months old he had open heart surgery at the Evelina Hospital in London. This was the biggest and hardest thing I have ever done!
Louis recovered within 2/3 weeks and he returned to being the happy chap he is today.
We continue to be supported with regular checkups by the fantastic staff at AlderHey/Macclesfield hospital and Louis will go through childhood without needing his donor valve replacing.
There were so many charities we could have chosen but we got straight to the heart of situation (pardon the pun)
The work carried out by the British Heart Foundation is vital. They support patients and family throughout their heart journey. They raise money to research cures and treatments, so we can beat heartbreak forever.
We hope that our T-shirts raise awareness and raise money for an incredibly worthy cause.
Our t-shirts are now available to buy online xx
